WhatsApp begins to limit the duration of videos due to the coronavirus

The coronavirus has a firm grip on the world. It is very important that messengers like WhatsApp work without problems in this period. To ensure this, the status function is temporarily restricted in some countries.

WhatsApp: Status function limited due to coronavirus

With over two billion users in the world, WhatsApp is by far the most popular messenger platform. It is all the more important that it works without failures. Recently it became known that the load on WhatsApp is almost as big every day as it was at the new year celebrations. Anyone who sends New Year’s greetings via WhatsApp at the turn of the year knows that this sometimes only works with a delay. So to avoid that this happens during the coronavirus pandemic, WhatsApp has already increased the capacities. In some countries, however, the status function is now restricted to relieve the messenger – as WABetaInfo reports:

“ANNOUNCEMENT: You can no longer send videos to WhatsApp Status if they are longer than 16 seconds: only videos having a duration of 15 seconds will be allowed. This is happening in India and it’s probably an initiative to reduce the traffic on the server infrastructures.”

Accordingly, the video length of a WhatsApp status is halved in some countries around the world. While you could record 30 seconds so far, it is now 15 seconds. This should bring a significant relief, without the function having to be completely eliminated. In India in particular, the status function is very popular and is now being used extensively. It is only a temporary restriction that will be removed when the situation calms down. However, it could also be extended to other countries if necessary.

It is worth mentioning that the coronavirus, which originated in China in late December, has since spread to 199 countries, infecting over 738,000 and killing about 35,000 globally. Some recent reports claim that the US government is in talks with Facebook, Google and other technology companies aboutĀ the possibility of using smartphone location data to combat the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

People should stop using Whatsapp it’s old, slow as turtle and heavy on phone. Telegram is faster, better and has more features (especially channels and in latest update chats organized in folders feature).

BTW, you can still send videos on Telegram in any length and any size!
