In 2020, a number of smartphones equipped with 100MP sensors hit the market. Among them, we can mention the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. Especially these two have provided a good resolution. According to the latest news, we may soon see smartphones equipped with 150MP sensors.

Some sources said that Xiaomi is currently developing smartphones equipped with 144MP sensors. The first product equipped with a 144MP sensor is likely to be the Xiaomi Mi 10S Pro or Xiaomi CC10 Pro.

In fact, previously we reported that Samsung is developing a 150-megapixel sensor. So considering that Xiaomi has previously developed a 100-megapixel sensor with Samsung, it is also possible that the two will jointly develop a new 150-megapixel sensor. Obviously, the smartphone makers have not explored all the capabilities and applications of a 100MP sensor. So it’s a bit confusing what we will do with a 150MP sensor.

Anyways, as for the new 150-megapixel sensor, it has a 1-inch outsole. This sensor will also be equipped with Samsung Nonacell technology, upgraded from pixel four-in-one to pixel nine-in-one, which can output 16MP photos. Of course, 150MP is not the point. Before that, Qualcomm said at the Snapdragon 865 conference that it was developing a 200-megapixel sensor.

The early rumors indicated Xiaomi is going to launch a handset with this 150MP sensor in the fourth quarter of 2020. But it won’t be the only player on the market with such a powerful ‘weapon’. OPPO and VIVO will launch related products in the first quarter of 2021.
