There is a very fragile and sentimental theory regarding the fifth-generation 5G network. Over the past two weeks, there have been growing concerns that 5G is the cause of the coronavirus pandemic. According to media reports, two 5G base stations in Birmingham and Merseyside have been set on fire by residents. Their action is related to the rumor that 5G is the main architect of the new coronavirus. This belief is consistently spreading in the US and parts of Europe.
As early as March 12 at the Health Summit in Arizona, American doctor, Thomas Cowan, said that Africa does not have 5G thus there are no coronavirus cases in the region. However, contrary to his claims, thousands of COVID-19 cases are in Africa despite the absence of 5G. Unfortunately, this ridiculous theory is very popular in the US, UK, and parts of Europe. To make matters worse, celebrities with millions of followers “preach the same sermon” and its unbelievable to say the least. The growing popularity of this theory is what instigated the destruction of the two 5G base stations in the UK.

There is no proof that 5G base stations are harmful to health
Furthermore, it is strange that many people consider Wuhan as the first 5G city in the world. South Korea already had over a million 5G subscribers by mid-2019. China only commercialized 5G in November 2019 and that was when 5G entered Wuhan. This also shows that the outbreak of COVID-19 in Wuhan couldn’t have been related to 5G.
The British Mobile Communications Association (Mobile UK) said the rumors were worrying. Furthermore, the British Digital Culture Media and Sports Department (DCMS) also issued a statement saying that there is absolutely no evidence that 5G is related to the new coronavirus.
According to Dr. Georges C. Benjamin, executive director of the American Public Health Association, “COVID-19 is caused by a virus that came through a natural animal source and has no relation to 5G or any radiation linked to technology.”
