Chinese manufacturing giant, Huawei, has been doing quite well with the camera of its latest smartphones. According to a recent leak, Huawei/Honor could be developing a smartphone with a 55x digital zoom capacity. The leak shows the EMUI camera app with the 55x zoom slider. This is quite new because no Huawei or Honor phone currently has this option.

Huawei 55x zoom

Looking at Huawei’s latest smartphones, we have the likes of Huawei P30 Pro and P40 Pro which boasts of up to 50x digital zoom. The Huawei P40 Pro+ comes with 100x digital zoom. However, no Huawei device currently uses this 55x zoom capacity. This implies that Huawei/Honor is probably developing this feature.

Gizchina News of the week

Which Huawei/Honor phone will use the 55x zoom?

The 55x digital zoom is more than what Huawei P40 Pro offers and it is in the telescopic range. Of course, the 55x zoom does not mean that the imaging capability of this new device is stronger than the P40 Pro. This is because there are other parameters to consider such as camera pixel size and software optimization. According to the leakster, there is no assurance that this feature will hit the road. However, we can only be optimistic for now.

If this camera zoom technology eventually hits the road, there are a number of front liners for this tech. We have the likes of Honor 30 series, Huawei nova 7 series, Huawei Mate 30S series and Mate 40 series still waiting to hit the market. There are already speculations that this smartphone may be the upcoming nova 7 series. The nova 7 series should come with the new Kirin 985 SoC. However, this is just mere speculations and nothing concrete.

In all, we will have to wait for the coming weeks to get more information regarding the 55x digital zoom. Since this leak is out, there is a good chance that we will hear more in the coming weeks.
