After many leaks and reports, Xiaomi’s Redmi finally announced a new variant of its recently released Redmi K30 Pro Zoom Edition. Apparently, this edition wasn’t ready for the official launch that happened a few weeks ago. The Redmi K30 Pro 5G was released in China in a vanilla and zoom edition. The latter offers 30x digital zoom and now is getting a new unit with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. This version retails at CNY 4,499 (~$634). It now sits as the most high-end variant of the Redmi K30 Pro series. Customers in China will be able to purchase it tomorrow.
Redmi K30 Pro Zoom Edition specifications
The K30 Pro comes as Redmi’s attempt to reach all the success achieved by the K20 series during the last year. Under the hood, we have the almighty Snapdragon 865 SoC with X55 Modem for seamless 5G connectivity. The specifications are built around a 6.67-inch bezel-less AMOLED display. In order to deliver this bezel-free experience, the company equipped the handset with a 12MP pop-up front camera.
Gizchina News of the week
The camera department is composed of a main 64MP Sony IMX686 camera that comes along with an 8MP telephoto lens, 13MP ultra-wide and a 2MP depth sensor. The 8MP telephoto sensor is behind the 3x optical and 30x digital zoom modes. You can also expect all the camera software features brought by MIUI 11 OS that runs on top of Android 10.
The handset draws power from a 4,700mAh battery with support for 33W fast-charging. This allows the battery to get full in just 1 hour and 3 minutes charging. Other features include NFC and Hi-Res audio support. The major downside of this phone in comparison with its K30 sibling is the display. This particular unit has a 60Hz refresh rate while the vanilla K30 features a 120Hz display. According to Redmi’s GM Lu Weibing, this was a necessary move to make the price attractive.
