Today, Chinese manufacturer, Meizu, announced that the Meizu 17 “mSmart 5G” fast and stable technology sharing meeting will be broadcast online at 14:30 on April 17th. While this may just be an event to unveil Meizu 17 5G capabilities, there are reports that the Meizu 17 could debut on that date. Recall that this smartphone recently got radio network access licenses which confirms that there are three models.
The Meizu 17 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 flagship SoC with a maximum of 12GB memory + 256GB storage. It will use a 64MP AI main camera in a quad-rear camera setup. The battery capacity is 4500 mAh and it supports 30W flash charging. Looking at the latest flagship smartphones, the LPDDR4X and LPDDR5 memory seems to divide between high and low models. Meizu 17 may use this strategy. The standard version may come with LPDDR4X memory while the high-end version will use LPDDR5 memory.
Gizchina News of the week
Considering the performance, LPDDR5 memory performance is stronger. However, the actual difference between the two is not big. Nevertheless, LPDDR4X memory is quite good and many top-notch smartphones use it. The likes of Huawei P40 series, Black Shark 3 Standard Edition, Redmi K30 Pro Standard Edition, Oppo Find X2 Standard Edition, etc. are all LPDDR4X memory. This smartphone will use a 6.5-inch 90Hz AMOLED screen with an on-screen fingerprint sensor. It will also come with a horizontal linear motor and dual stereo speakers.
In terms of price, the 8GB + 128GB version costs 3999 yuan ($567) (LPDDR4X), the 8GB + 256GB version costs 4299 yuan ($609), while the 12GB + 256GB version costs 4699 yuan ($666). At present, there is no confirmation on the price leak. Nevertheless, looking at the current pricing of Snapdragon 865 flagships, these devices are usually above 3500 yuan. Thus, the starting price of this smartphone may be between 3500 ($496) – 4000 yuan ($567).
This smartphone will arrive later this month. What do you think about the Meizu 17? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below
