OnePlus has finally taken the wraps off its highly anticipated OnePlus 8 series. Both smartphones came with everything you expect from a 2020 flagship. However, there are also some interesting features that aren’t common like the triple-microphone array. OnePlus took its time to explain OnePlus 8 Pro Audio 3D, Audio Zoom and Audio Windscreen features. Interestingly enough, we now got a confirmation that Nokia’s OZO audio technology gives power to all these features.
While Nokia’s OZO camera tech left the market a long ago, the Audio tech is still alive and kicking. Jyri Huopaniemi, head of Technology Licensing at Nokia Technologies shared his excitement with the new deal made with OnePlus to power the recently released flagship.
Gizchina News of the week
“We are thrilled to enable OnePlus 8 Pro to capture and record immersive, high-quality sound with OZO Audio. It will allow their customers to experience vivid, dynamic recordings. This is yet another testament to our leadership as a licensor of advanced technologies for smartphone and camera manufacturers.
Nokia Technologies focus is on licensing Nokia intellectual property. It includes patents, technologies and the Nokia brand. We license our innovative OZO spatial audio and visual technologies to smartphone and camera manufacturers through our Technology Licensing business.”
Moreover, it’s important to notice that this deal doesn’t seem to be something exclusive to the OnePlus 8 Pro. Recently released flagships from Oppo, the Find X2 and X2 Pro also feature OZO technology. So we’re probably looking in a bigger partnership between Nokia and the BBK Group. The latter is behind companies like OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo and Realme. As a result, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see phones from Realme and Vivo to also come with this particular technology in the future.
