After releasing the Nubia Red Magic 5G, Nubia wants to make its gaming smartphone range more accessible with a new mid-range dubbed Nubia Play 5G. The new smartphone will go official on April 21. Ahead of that, the company keeps feeding us with teaser videos and posters showing some of the phone’s capabilities.
Today, the company’s CEO Ni Fei, who is behind the big variety of Nubia Play teasers, decided to share another interesting tidbit about the handset – It will feature customizable shoulder buttons. This is a very welcome feature for gamers, and it’s interesting to see such a feature coming for a device that will be cheaper than its mainstream siblings. The CEO shared a teaser video where we can see the should buttons in action during a PUBG match.

Nubia Play 5G specifications
According to Ni Fei, users will find in the Nubia Play a great opportunity to dive in the gaming segment. Under the hood, the handset boasts Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G. This chipset can run every game on Play Store, although it’s not as powerful as the Snapdragon 865. Another interesting detail is that the Play will arrive with a 144Hz AMOLED display. That will be the first mid-range phone to adopt such high-refresh-rate. Moreover, it has a 240Hz touch sampling rate.
Other features include an in-display fingerprint scanner, a massive 5,100mAh battery with 30W PD fast-charging and seamless 5G connectivity. We are curious to see the price of this smartphone. We don’t expect it to be cheaper as most of the standard mid-range phones, however, making it “cheaper enough” will be a good way to attract customers.
