Due to the persistent coronavirus pandemic, smartphone shipments are expected to decline by more than 10% this year. This situation is affecting all brands. However, it appears to be more intense for some brands more than others. Due to the poor sales of the Samsung Galaxy S20 series, Samsung seems to be in a more difficult situation. According to media reports, the company has a plan to minimize the adverse effect for the rest of the year.
Gizchina News of the week
Since the release of the high-end Galaxy S10 5G version in early 2019, the South Korean manufacturer has been strongly supporting the development of 5G smartphones. It has also released two very expensive products, Galaxy Note 10+ 5G, and Galaxy A90 5G. However, the company also has cheaper 5G phones like Galaxy A51 5G and Galaxy A71 5G. These smartphones sell for $499 and $599 respectively.
Nevertheless, Samsung wants to go lower with the prices of 5G smartphones. There are unconfirmed speculations that Samsung will lower the price of its next 5G smartphones.
As of now, we do not know the model to come with a lower price. However, there are reports that Samsung is developing the updated Galaxy A series. This series will produce more smartphones that support 5G. These smartphones will be cheaper in order to attract consumers with small budgets. Samsung is convinced that if anything can convince people to upgrade their phones in 2020, it will be 5G.
