For the moment, we have only some technical comparisons of the next generation of consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X, alongside controllers and logos. But what we really care about are the games, the exclusives and the launch line-up. And with the recent cancellation of E3, Sony and Microsoft have been forced to revise their communication plans.
PS5 and Xbox Series X: next-gen consoles may be released sooner than expected
According to the well-informed Niko Partners’ Daniel Ahmad, PS5 and Xbox Series X next-gen consoles may be released sooner than expected.
“With E3 canceled, a lot of the planned reveals/announcements have been moved out of that single week. Some are now much earlier, others much later. Some still during E3 week ofc. The first proper next-gen console/games showcase is much earlier too”.
The VideoGamesChronicle site, also often well informed, has also confirmed by adding that according to their sources Sony and Microsoft have both prepared announcements for the month of May.

But, with regard to the epidemic that we are currently going through, plans can obviously change at the last minute. If all goes well, the vagueness around the next-gen consoles will, therefore, fade in the coming weeks which promise to be rather interesting.

Microsoft has delivered regular news and media on its Xbox Series X plans. Instead, Sony has adopted a cautious approach for its PS5 marketing plans in the first half of 2020. However, the company broke its silence in April with the reveal of the PS5’s new controller, DualSense. However, we expect to get more details on the two devices in the next few weeks.
