4G Users In China Account For 80.2% Of All Smartphone Users

In the telecommunication business, mobile Internet traffic maintained rapid growth, with a DOU value of 9.5GB in March. In the first quarter, the cumulative mobile Internet traffic reached 35.7 billion GB, an increase of 39.3% year-on-year, and continued to maintain a rapid growth on the basis of the three-digit growth of the same period last year; of which, the flow of Internet access via smartphones reached 34.4 billion GB, an increase of 34.9 year-on-year %, accounting for 96.4% of total mobile Internet traffic. In March, the average mobile Internet access traffic (DOU) reached 9.5GB / household, a year-on-year increase of 30.6%, an increase of 0.91GB / household from December of the previous year, reaching the highest point in nearly 12 months.

At the same time, smartphone traffic continued to decline. In the first quarter, the outgoing call duration of smartphones was 486.1 billion minutes. It’s a year-on-year decrease of 16.9%, an increase of 11 percentage points from the end of the previous year. But it’s a decrease of 1.7 percentage points from January to February. The call duration of fixed telephone callers was 21.8 billion minutes, a year-on-year decrease of 27.4%, an increase of 8.8 percentage points from the end of the previous year and a decrease of 3 percentage points from January to February.

The volume of mobile short-message services grew rapidly. And the year-on-year decline in revenue narrowed. In the first quarter, the national mobile SMS business volume increased by 38.3% year-on-year. Also, the growth rate increased by 19 percentage points year-on-year, an increase of 1.2 percentage points from January-February. Mobile SMS business revenue reached 9 billion yuan ($1.27 billion), a decrease of 0.7% year-on-year.
