It has been a week since the OnePlus 8 pro launched and users are already experiencing display issues. Users are reporting that a green tint appears on the display when brightness is varied and also when swapping the refresh rates of the screen.
Feedbacks on the OnePlus forums seem to point that the OnePlus 8 pro is suffering from a weird green tint issue on the display. It shows a greenish tint when the display is set to lower brightness, particularly when the display is set at 120hz. This may seem familiar to us as the Galaxy S20 Ultra also has a similar issue but the company has already acknowledged this and is sending out an update soon.
However, the issue on OnePlus 8 pro’s display may or may not be a software issue. We can only guess this because OnePlus has had display issues in the past, with some being hardware-oriented. The OnePlus 5 had a ” jelly scrolling” bug that made the text stretch and condenses the contents of the display. It was later found out that it had an inverted mounted display that was the culprit. In the recent past, the OnePlus 7 Pro also had ghost touch issues, among others.

However, some users have reported that the problem seems to go away when the DC dimming feature is turned on. Some say that setting the display’s refresh rate to 60hz also mitigates the problem. OnePlus seems to have acknowledged this problem and said that it has already started working on it.
Nevertheless, users are disappointed as the issue seems to be on some devices while some users are reporting no such problems on theirs and this is causing a lot of confusion. Let’s hope that OnePlus fixes this soon. OnePlus 8 Pro is retailing at $899 in the USA. It is available starting at Rs. 54,999 in India.
