Realme’s efforts of expanding its products portfolio seems to never end as the upcoming Realme TV has got Android certification by Google. The Company’s CEO, Madhav Sheth had already confirmed that Realme would bring the TV to India in the second quarter of 2020.
Going into the details, a recent report has revealed that Realme TVs are now officially Android Certified. The certification confirms that the brand’s range of Smart TVs will be based on Android. The screenshot shared on Twitter shows the TV codename to be “ikebukuro” referring to a ChangHong based TV. Now, a number of other OEMs also including BenQ, Vu Televisions, and Micromax also have devices with the same codename. That’s because brands usually build their products over existing models from other ODMs. Before finalising the design, the desired spec-sheet is chosen and when it is given the go-ahead, the ODM makes the TV.
The SoC inside will supposedly be the Mstar T16. The SoC based on a Taiwanese Manufacturer is definitely an interesting choice here. Realme has been testing the TV long enough to be ready for commercial roll-outs. A recent BIS listing spotted a while back revealed that there are 43-inch and 32-inch LED TV models. However, it is unclear as to how many models Realme might bring at launch but going by the CEO Madhav Seth’s statements, we can be sure that Realme is about to land with various sizes. It will be interesting to see how Realme prices these TVs as they have to cater to different audiences in various price brackets.
