Xiaomi launched MIUI 12 yesterday, along with the Mi 10 Youth Edition in China. The new UI has a lot of refreshed improvements and the latest hands-on video shows a glimpse of some with features like dark mode and improved privacy features.
Going into the details, the hands-on video shows the animations, transition effects between apps. The new settings panel with an interface overhaul is visible. The new fluid multitasking feature enables apps to run within apps as we can see in the video. The UI also seems to have a new animation engine, rendering engine for better illustration of icons and app transitions. There is also a zoom-in feature to view an aerial shot when you unlock the phone.

The latest UI brings improved privacy controls reinforced with “MACE” where users don’t need a cloud for data and it can be stored offline in a local terminal. Additionally, Xiaomi will also use a virtual ID that prevents suspicious apps from accessing personal information.
Other features of MIUI 12 include improved Always-on Display, floating windows, Gesture navigation based on stock Android 10, improved notification panel with quick reply feature. Xiaomi has really put more effort into this UI and it remains to be one of the best custom UI users can get. The closed beta is already live in China and the stable build release is planned in June. With MIUI 13 already in works, we can be sure that Xiaomi is giving all-in on this to get the best user interface for the consumers.
