iPhone 12 series leak hints at expected prices

Apple is expected to launch its next lineup of iPhones this year, even though there could be delays. The biggest upgrade is expected to be 5G connectivity and improved cameras. Now, the latest tip from Jon Prosser has revealed the prices of the line-up starting at $649.

Going into the details, Apple is rumoured to bring 4 phones in the iPhone 12 series. Starting with the 5.4-inch model (likely dubbed as mini), 6.1-inch iPhone 12, 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max are likely to be priced at $649(~Rs. 48,743), $749 (~Rs. 56,253), $999 (~Rs. 75,029), and $1099 (~Rs. 82,540) respectively in the US.

Talking about the line-up themselves, Apple is in plans to introduce a new budget iPhone this year. The phone is rumored to have a 5.4-inch OLED display with a smaller notch, and could be called iPhone SE Plus. The device will have a dual-camera at the back and an aluminium body as its frame.

The next entrant, iPhone 12 will be a direct replacement to the iPhone 11. The 6.1-inch phone will feature a FHD+ OLED display and similar construction as stated above. The cameras at the back might be similar to the mini version but we will have to wait for further details.

The premium range begins with the iPhone 12 Pro replacing its predecessor 5.8-inch phone from last year. The upgrade in the display will have a 6.1-inch OLED panel with improved resolution and currently, there is no information about higher refresh rates in the screen. The optics is expected to get an upgrade with an additional LIDAR scanner that was found in the iPad Pro 2020 along with a triple-camera setup.

The bigger of the bunch, as the name suggests, the iPhone 12 Pro Max will have a massive 6.7-inch display OLED panel and will likely feature a 120Hz refresh rate screen. This top of the line model is rumored to be sporting the mmWave technology with support for lower band 5G networks but we will have to wait for further leaks.

All the phones above will have the upgraded A14 Bionic SoCs with support for 5G connectivity, improved construction, upgraded internals with more RAM, and presumably bigger batteries to power higher refresh rates and improved Face ID. All in all, the series looks quite competitive and Apple can very well make last-minute changes to make this a compelling offering.

There have been reports that Apple has been facing disruptions in the supply chain due to the global lockdown situation. This could result in the iPhone 12 launch, or at least sales, being delayed by more than a month.
