The Pocophone F1 truly is a legendary phone. Back in 2018, Xiaomi launched a sub-brand called Poco which gave birth to a true flagship-killer featuring that year flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and a super-affordable price tag. The handset quickly achieved a “cult” status, and fans of the brand have been waiting for a sequel for quite a long time. This year, the hopes raised when Xiaomi decided to “revive” Poco as a separate brand. Like it or not, the new Poco F2 Pro is coming, and despite the company’s promises, it will be just a rebranded Redmi K30 Pro.
While there still no info regarding the launch windows, a new leak comes to tease us with the European pricing. According to 4GNews, from Portugal, the Poco F2 Pro is going to be priced over there at €649 (~$704). That’s the price for the variant 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The other variant with 8GB of RAM And 256GB of storage will set you back €749 (~$813). That may seem to be too much for a flagship killer. However, as aforementioned, this is the pricing for Portugal. There, the government has a “private copy tax” that makes prices of smartphones slightly higher than in the rest of Europe. In the best possible case scenario, the European “Global” variant will cost €599 (~$650).
Gizchina News of the week
The Redmi K30 Pro, or Poco F2 Pro, would come with the Snapdragon 865G at this price tag and a truly bezel-less display. Instead of fancy punch-hole solutions, the handset makes use of a pop-up mechanism for the selfie shooter. Therefore, it can have its AMOLED display free of any cutouts. Unfortunately, the handset has only a 60Hz refresh rate. That generated a huge backlash from customers, after all, the vanilla Redmi K30 (Poco X2 in India) features a whopping 120Hz display. According to the company’s general manager, this was a necessary move to bring down the price.
We suggest you take this news with a pinch or two of salt. After all, there’s still no word from Poco regarding the global launch of the Poco F2 series.
