According to reports, Samsung is preparing a new Galaxy Fold Lite to launch alongside the new Galaxy Fold 2. The reason is, the Galaxy Fold 2 will be just $100 cheaper than its predecessor. That keeps the foldable phone out of the bonds for the big majority of customers. With the Lite variant, the company may expand the availability of its foldable device.
I have some info on the Galaxy Fold Lite.
-Galaxy Fold Lite 4G
-256GB storage
-Mirror Black, Mirror Purple
-Display has no UTG
-Will be equipped with a mix of 2018/19/20 parts
-outside will probably have a smaller display (not like on Fold, but more like the Z Flip)— Max Weinbach (@MaxWinebach) May 12, 2020
Gizchina News of the week
A new report states that this Galaxy Fold Lite will retail at $1,100. That is the exact launch price of the Galaxy S20+ with 4G connectivity. Besides the price, the new phone will also come with only LTE connectivity. Moreover, the device seems to be a combination of new components and the last year’s Galaxy Fold in essence.
The good news is that the handset should retain Galaxy Fold 2 chipset. That means that we’ll have the Snapdragon 865 onboard while the storage should be cut to 256GB. The presence of the chipset puts it on par with current flagships, also surpassing the Galaxy Z Flip that was launched with last year’s Snapdragon 855+ to bring the price down.
The report also states that the Fold Lite won’t come with Ultra-Thin Glass on its internal screen. Therefore, its image quality will be somewhat below what we have on the Galaxy Z Flip. Of course, all this still is based on rumors, so we should digest it with a pinch or two of salt.
