Apple’s Trade-In program has been active for some time. However, the company’s Chinese website recently announced a Trade-In program where you can trade in eligible devices and get a discount on your new device purchase. If your equipment does not qualify for the credit, it can also be recycled for free. Interestingly, the new Apple Trade-In program supports Android devices. Apple said
“Trade-In your eligible device for credit toward your next purchase, or get an Apple Store Gift Card you can use anytime. If your device isn’t eligible for credit, we’ll recycle it for free. No matter the model or condition, we can turn it into something good for you and good for the planet”.

Apple Trade-In price for some Android phone seems really low
However, looking at the credit for some Android phones, is it really “something good”? According to reports, when you want to buy an iPhone, if you choose to exchange, a number of Android models have been added. The models include Huawei P30, Huawei P30 Pro, OPPO R11, OPPO R11s, and so on. For the Huawei P30/P30 Pro, you get up to 200 yuan ($28) credit while the OPPO R11/R11s gets up to 350 yuan ($49).
As a comparison, however, the credit price seems unreasonable. A majority of these Android phones can be easily worth much more than the Trade-In price. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro can be worth 1100 yuan ($155) but Apple is offering a lot less.
In comparison iPhone’s own iPhone XS Max is up to 3750 yuan ($527) while the iPhone XS credit can reach 3450 yuan ($485). Even the iPhone 6s gets up to 400 yuan ($56).
The amount of credit for Android machines seems very controversial. Only very few people, if any, we see this as a deal worth taking. According to some analyses, the calculation of Apple credit should be calculated from the recyclable components. Some of these models come with unacceptably low prices.
