Cupertino giant Apple has been secretly working on smart glasses. And a recent leak by popular tipster Jon Prosser suggests that the glasses might be announced as early as Q4 2020 with a price tag of $499.

According to the report, Jon Prosser has shared details about the upcoming Apple Glasses. He is a trusted leaker in recent times as he leaked the exact launch date of iPhone SE 2020. The YouTuber believes that Apple will just call it ‘Apple Glass’.  Speaking about the design, he claims early prototypes are made of plastic, however, the final design could change anytime.

Both the lenses are rumored to display infos on it based on a starboard UI. Further, it is said that the lens can be used with gesture features however, the usability of this is still skeptical. Jon further said that the info on displays could be visible only to the wearer and not to the people who see them.

Apart from this, the Apple Glass is rumoured to sport a LiDAR scanner and was spotted on early prototypes. The tipster further said that the scanner could scan proprietary Apple QR codes and added that addition of  LiDAR sensor to iPad Pro 2020 and upcoming iPhone 12 series, is a part of the strategy by Apple and data from that could be shared with the Apple Glass team for better Integration.

Auxiliary feature rumoured is wireless charging with the glass flipped upside down on the charging board provided. Additionally, Jon said that the lenses might not be tinted and Apple is reportedly planning to ditch support for Sunglasses. The reason for this could be because displays are a first-generation product and need more research to perfect them for the tinted lenses.

Finally, Prosser claimed that Apple Glass will start at $499 for the spectacles and additional cost would be for the prescription of a particular lens if a user needs them. Regarding the launch, Jon said that Apple initially planned to unveil them at the iPhone event that could be held in October, rather than September this year.

But according to the tip, Apple reportedly needs media presence during the announcement of this unique product and hence might skip the announcement at this year’s iPhone event if current social distancing norms continue to remain the same. Regardless of this, Apple is reportedly targeting to make the Apple Glasses commercially available for Q4 2021 or during early 2022.
