Since the beginning of this year, Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a has been making round on the internet revealing new information each time. According to emerging evidence, the upcoming Pixel 5 might end up featuring a mid-range chipset possibly the Snapdragon 765 range. This means that the device might be done with 800-series with the new offering. It is worth noting that this evidence is coming from a senior XDA member who goes by the name cstart27.

The XDA member managed to find the information from the leaked Google Camera 7.4 APK. As per the information, the “sunfish” model will feature Snapdragon 730 while the remaining two “redfin” and “bramble” will feature SD 765 SoC. If you’re unaware, the sunfish is a codename for Pixel 4a device while the remaining two points to Pixel 5 and 5 XL respectively.

Coming to the chipset, the Pixel 5 might use any variation of Snapdragon 765 chipset. We’re talking about SD 765, 765G and 768G. All these chipsets are quite similar to each other with the main difference being in the CPU and GPU clock speeds.

If the report is any true, then Pixel 5 might end up attracting more consumers considering how well the lineup performs in terms of optics. The search engine giant has already witnessed a decline in sales with its previous Pixel 4 lineup. In fact, the device didn’t even make its way to all the major markets since the use of the motion sensor was restricted in various regions. With that said, the fifth iteration will drop the use of the motion sensor if the recent report is considered.

Price, Availability

Although there is no official pricing information from the company, a recent leak has already revealed what we can expect. It seems like the Pixel 4a will arrive with a $350 price tag for the 128GB variant. This means that we might see $300 price for the base 64GB storage. Pixel 5, on the other hand, might start with a $700 price tag. It is worth mentioning that Pixel 4 started with $800 price during the official launch.
