After many leaks and reports, Honor finally unveiled the new Honor 10X smartphone featuring 5G connectivity and a decent starting price of CNY 1,899, around $268. The new handset sits as a mid-range smartphone but with a truly remarkable performance thanks to the Kirin 820 5G SoC underneath. The handset is offered in three flavors with 6GB of RAM plus 64GB of storage, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of Storage and finally an upper model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The handset also has a custom Sony IMX600y 40MP primary camera, it is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide and 2MP depth helper. On the front, there is a punch-hole 16MP shooter for selfies. One of the most curious bits of the new smartphone is that it debuts a brand new Magic UI 3.1 software.
Just like Huawei did with the introduction of EMUI 10.1 through the release of P40 flagships, the company is doing the same with the release of Honor X10. The new smartphone makes the great debut of the new incremental software update. If you’re unaware, Magic UI is the company’s dedicated software for Honor devices, but in essence, it’s very similar to EMUI. Moreover, the company took to the stage to announce that this new software version will also reach older Honor smartphones.

Magic UI 3.1
In essence, Magic UI 3.1 retains all the goodies introduced on EMUI 10.1. There’s no big difference between the two software skins apart from some tweaks and design differences here and there. Honor has been rolling out beta builds for specific devices over the past few months. During the last week, the company rolled out the first Magic UI 3.1 beta builds for the Honor 20, 20 Pro, V20, and Magic 2. Interestingly enough, the Honor 9X series received EMUI 10.1 during one of its closed beta releases.
Apparently, this was just a mistake and the company will roll out the correct Magic UI 3.1 for the 9X and 9X Pro. In addition to this statement, the company revealed a final list comprising the Honor devices that are confirmed to receive the Magic UI 3.1 update.
