Today, VIVO Y70s, the first 5G smartphone in the Y series was announced to become available soon. The previous generations of VIVO Y are priced below 2000 yuan ($281). So the new VIVO Y70s new machine may also continue the same pricing policy of this series, offering a 5G phone within 2,000 yuan.
Also, we learned that the VIVO Y70s will be powered by the Exynos 880 5G processor. The latter adopts ARM’s new generation Cortex-A77 CPU architecture. At the same time, it supports SA & NSA dual-mode 5G networking. The theoretical maximum download speed of the chip can reach 3.55Gbps. So not only Qualcomm and MediaTek can make 5G chips with high download speed. Samsung is still in the game.
By the way, this chip has been leaked on GeekBench inside the Vivo Y70s long ago. And that time, we learned many of its key parameters. Overall, the chipset seems quite similar to the Exynos 980, but with lower clock speeds for the Cortex-A77 CPU cores. The Exynos 880 SoC scored 641 points and 1,814 points in single-core and multi-core CPU tests, respectively.
Gizchina News of the week
Say, the same Kirin 980 scores 679 points and 1,879 points in single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. In this regard, the Exynos 880’s performance is more or less similar to the Snapdragon 765G.
VIVO’s Achievements In 5G
5G mobile communication mainly has three core characteristics of high rate (eMBB), wide connection (mMTC), and low latency (URLLC). With the upcoming launch of the VIVO Y70s, VIVO 5G smartphones have achieved 5G coverage of the full price segment.
In terms of 5G, VIVO established a 5G research and development center in 2016 and joined the international standardization organization 3GPP to participate in the formulation of 5G standards. As of now, VIVO has applied for more than 2,000 5G invention patents and submitted more than 3,500 5G proposals to 3GPP. So that’s not surprising to see it ranking among the top 10 in 3GPP influence.
