Google Pixel 4A likely to launch in July

There’s not much left to talk about Google’s Pixel 4A, as far as the details about the device itself are concerned. The smartphone has been leaked extensively. In the past,  camera samples from a pre-release unit were shared. Now, the latest tip has revealed the device might launch on July 13.

According to the famous tipster Jon Prosser, the Pixel 4A will be announced on July 13. He has further said that the company has made decisions based on market analysis. The device was rumoured to launch initially in May at Google’s I/O but the event got cancelled due to the virus.

Previously, the launch dates were rumoured to be around the last week of May and early June at the Android 11 Developer Preview event. But Google seems to have delayed it further and this could be due to the ongoing situation.

Additionally, Jon has said that the Pixel 4A will be a 4G model and is apparently ready to ship. He has also ruled out an XL variant of the Pixel 4A due to lack of any evidence.

No 5G in Pixel 4A, Why?

Regarding the absence of 5G in Pixel 4A, the above claim makes sense as the smartphone’s leaked specifications point to a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730 SoC on board that doesn’t have support for 5G. The device will have a 5.81-inch FHD+ OLED display with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels and a 60Hz refresh rate.

The smartphone will have a 12MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie snapper. Additionally, it will include a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port for charging.

Further, the device will have a 3,080mAh battery and an 18W fast charging support. The device will run Android 10 out of the box with Google’s Pixel Experience UI. Storage variants are likely 6GB of RAM, 64GB and 128GB ROM variants. 

Jon further said the Pixel 4A will come in two colourways – Just Black and Barely Blue. As for the price, the device has been rumouredto be priced at $349 to compete against the likes of Apple’s iPhone SE but we will have to wait for that.
