Back in the last month, Honor unveiled two smartphones named Honor Play 4T and Play 5T Pro. These devices came with basic specifications, however, that was justified by the really low price tag they were targeting in China. Now, it seems that the Huawei sub-brand is gearing to complete the family with a new smartphone dubbed Honor Play 4 Pro. However, this won’t be a modest device and will come with 40W fast-charging and 5G connectivity. Thanks to the listing spotted at JingDong.com (JD.com) we have a deep look into the specifications as well as a couple of shots showing the handset in all its blue-ish glory.
Honor Play 4 Pro specifications
Under the hood, the Honor Play 4 Pro boasts the Kirin 820 SoC which grants 5G connectivity without any hassle. Moreover, that is a pretty much powerful chipset ensuring a performance that is comparable to last year’s flagships. The chipset fits inside of a bezel-less display with a pill-shaped punch-hole for dual selfie shooters. Interestingly enough, this is an LCD display and for that reason the fingerprint scanner is placed at the side and doubles as a power button.
In an age of multiple cameras, it’s uncommon to see a new smartphone coming with just two cameras. However, that’s exactly the case of Honor Play 4 Pro. Perhaps it will be a cheap 5G smartphone that sacrifices the camera features for the sake of performance and connectivity? Only the time will tell. Despite the lack of a third or fourth sensor, this isn’t a simple camera setup at all. Leading the show, we have Sony’s IMX600y 40MP camera. That’s the very same sensor found in the recently released X10.

A beautiful design that fits perfectly in the gaming range
One of the most interesting characteristics of this phone is found on its back. It has an interesting and unique accent on its blue back with the Kirin logo. Huawei and Honor are pretty much revolutionary with design aesthetics being the brands that basically debuted recent trends made of gradient and colorful finishes. Interestingly enough, this design pattern carries some gaming aesthetics with different layers and shades of blue. While it’s too soon to state that this is a gaming smartphone, we won’t be a surprise to see an Honor Play launching as a gaming phone.
On the top part of the smartphone we can see the noise-canceling microphone and what seems to be an IR blaster. On the bottom part, we have the USB-C port sitting alongside a speaker grill and the SIM tray.
Unfortunately there are no details regarding the battery size. However, the device is said to support a whopping 40W fast-charging. Moreover, it should carry Android 10-based Magic UI 3.1 straight out of the box. This device may be launched soon and might take the crow of Honor’s cheapest 5G handset. The Honor X10 currently sits as the cheapest 5G offering from the brand with its price starting at CNY 1,899.
