The idea of a Huawei Mate Watch to accompany the smartphones isn’t something new. However, these rumors never got substantial prove of reliability, until now. The Chinese Behemoth has filed a trademark for “Mate Watch” earlier this month in China. Considering that the company already has a smartwatch lineup dubbed Watch GT and more recently released the GT 2e, what could be the purpose of the new trademark?
The first possibility is that Huawei is actually preparing a new Huawei Mate Watch. It can go hand in hand with the upcoming Mate 40 flagships series, which may be revealed in the coming months. The second possibility, is that Huawei will re-brand one of its existing smartwatches. Moreover, the rumors indicate that this could be a premium-oriented smartwatch featuring some advanced capabilities like SpO2 as well as an ECG reader. Honor will probably take all the responsibilities regarding customers needing a budget-smartwatch offering. The sub-brand is achieving a substantial success with its Honor MagicWatch lineup.

Unfortunately, we should digest these rumors with a pinch or two of salt. After all, the only consistent prove we have right now is this trademark. While the new smartwatch doesn’t come, the company will keep pushing the Watch GT 2e with the following specs:
