After numerous leaks and rumors, Sony is finally launching its first 5G enabled flagship smartphone dubbed Xperia 1 II. The flagship phone will soon go official in the US region. Earlier today, the smartphone maker revealed some key information about the phone revealing the price tag and availability details. This is not the first time we’re hearing about the device from the brand. In fact, a couple of months ago, Sony revealed the device by releasing an official 2-minute long video.
Sony Xperia 1 II: Launch, Availability
As per the new official information, Sony will launch its Xperia 1 II on July 24 in the US market. This means that interested buyers will be able to purchase the device from July 24. Furthermore, the pre-order for the same will kick off from June 1. As a part of the pre-order offer, the company is offering a pair of Sony WF-1000XM3 noise-canceling earbuds for free. To claim this offer, you need to pre-order the device by June 28.
Coming to the price tag, the Xperia 1 II will arrive with a whopping $1200 price tag. For your reference, the Galaxy S20 Plus carries the same price tag. The device will support all the major carriers namely Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, MetroPCS, and Cricket networks.

Apart from the availability details, we also know almost everything about the device. The Xperia 1 II is equipped with a 6.5-inch AMOLED panel with a 4K resolution and a 21:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the device makes use of flagship Snapdragon 865 chipset paired. Sadly, the memory configurations remain unknown as of now. In terms of optics, we’re looking at a 12MP triple camera module at the back that can shoot up to 20 fps in burst mode. It can also calculate AF/AE at up to 60 times per second.
All of these are going to be backed by a decent 4,000 mAh battery inside. There is no information on the fast charging support as well. Although the device will definitely arrive with wireless charging. The device still retains the 3.5mm audio jack which the buyers might appreciate. It is also worth noting that the device will arrive with only a 4G network while the European version will support 5G connectivity. The company is working on a 5G variant called Xperia Pro which would be nothing but a 5G version of Xperia 1 II. The device is currently in the works and the brand hasn’t confirmed the existence so far.
