Xiaomi clears its 4G smartphone lineup – focuses on 5G now

Presently, the smartphone industry is moving into the hub of the 5G era. No doubt, the development of 5G is not complete yet. In addition, its adaptation rate is still at its infancy. However, we already have a plethora of 5G compatible devices and it appears that manufacturers are slowly losing interest in non-5G devices. According to a recent report, Lei Jun, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi Group talked about Xiaomi’s 5G. According to him, from the beginning of the year to the present, Xiaomi has released 5 5G mobile phones.

“Our warehouse is empty and 5G phones can’t get on”, Lei Jun said, adding that this is the biggest trouble the pandemic has created for Xiaomi. This means that in resuming production, Xiaomi made a huge determination to subsidize the production at a huge cost. “It’s true that the 5G rollout has slowed down due to the pandemic, but we did not change our strategy and will continue to push 5G phones.”

Lei Jun also listed three typical 5G applications. First, 4K and 8K ultra-high-definition video conferencing will be rapidly popularized by 5G. Secondly, the high bandwidth and low latency of 5G will promote the rapid development of cloud games. Thirdly, the advent of 5G autonomous driving will gain more attention.
