VIVO X50 / 50 Pro / 50 Pro+ Launched: Focuses On Video Shooting

VIVO has been working hard on 5G smartphones this year. They could make a Snapdragon 865 flagship within 3,000 yuan ($421) and a Dimensity 1000 5G phone. In this sense, the VIVO X50, X50 Pro, and X50 Pro + phones released tonight show that the Snapdragon 765G phone can be sold for 4,698 yuan ($659). Honestly, this series is outstanding, but it makes many people feel a little strange.

VIVO X50 Series Main Differences

As the flagship model of VIVO, the selling point of the X series has always been not the cost-effectiveness, but the ultralight body and camera. In this regard, VIVO has really worked hard. The X50 only weighs 173 grams and has a thickness of 7.49mm. Among the current flagship models, this is the lightest model. At the same time, due to the COP packaging process, the X50 Pro weighs 181.5 grams and has a thickness of 8.04mm.

However, the selling point of the VIVO X50 series is the unseen video shooting capabilities. The phone comes with a new image stabilization system, which is way better than OIS.

In terms of screen, the VIVO X50 / X50 Pro / X50 Pro+ sports a 6.56-inch AMOLED display. But if the X50 has a straight screen, the X50 Pro and the X50 Pro+ come with a curved screen. The refresh rates of the three are 90Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz, and the touch sampling rates are 180Hz, 180Hz, 240Hz, respectively. Obviously, the X50 Pro+ is slightly better.

The X50 series uses a hole-punch screen design (X50 and X50 Pro are both 6.56-inch screens, the former body width is 75.39 mm, the latter is 72.80 mm, the grip is more comfortable). Also, they come with a P3 full color gamut AMOLED flexible screen with COP packaging process, peak brightness of 1300nit, HDR 10+ technology, and support for Eagle Eye mode for enhancing game screen and LTM sunlight screen (Switzerland SGS) Eye Care Display certification.

In addition, the X50 Pro+ only provides a maximum of 256GB capacity, which is a bit less. The top configuration should be 12+512GB.

In terms of battery and charging, the VIVO X50/X50 Pro have 4200mAh and 4315mAh batteries, supporting 33W flash charge. But the X50 Pro+ comes with a 4350mAh battery. The capacity has not been upgraded much, but charging has been upgraded to 44W.

Photography and Video Recording

The biggest difference is of course the rear camera. The X50 features a 48-megapixel main camera + 13-megapixel portrait + 8-megapixel wide-angle + 5MP macro lenses combination. The main camera is a custom sensor of the IMX598, and the X50 Pro has a 48-megapixel main camera + 13MP portrait + 8MP periscope telephoto lens + 8MP wide-angle macro lenses combination. Both main cameras use IMX598 custom sensors. But the X50 Pro is stronger in telephoto and wide-angle macro lenses.

VIVO X50 series

The more important difference is the image stabilization. The X50 still uses the traditional OIS (optical image stabilization), while the X50 Pro has micro-camera image stabilization.

VIVO X50 series

As for the VIVO X50 Pro +, it has been further upgraded to 50MP main camera, 32MP professional portrait lens, 13MP periscope telephoto, and 13MP wide-angle macro lens. The main camera sensor is still the customized Samsung GN1 with a 50MP resolution, a 1/1.3 outsole, and also supports 100MP mode.

In terms of sound quality, VIVO’s X series has always performed well in HiFi. The X50 supports three microphones and Hi-Res certification, while the X50 Pro adds an AK4377A sound quality chip. The latter also supports Hi-Res certification.

Price

Finally, the VIVO X50 8 + 128GB is 3498 yuan ($491) and the 8 + 256GB is 3898 yuan (547). The X50 Pro’s price is 4298 yuan ($603) for the 8 + 128GB variant and 4698 yuan ($659) for the 8 + 256GB model.

In short, comparing the prices and specifications of the X50/X50 Pro/X50 Pro+ three phones, we think that the X50 Pro+ phone from 4998 yuan is more sincere.
