Asus has been consolidating its name in the market of gaming smartphones with the ROG Phone series. The ROG series came to complement the company’s lineup of smartphones, well known by the ZenFone series. Now, Asus is gearing up to give another important step in the mobile segment. The Taiwanese firm announces in a press release that is a Verified Solution Partner of Unity, the platform that is used for creating plenty of mobile games. For that reason, the company will ensure that its SDK (Starter-Development-Kit) will always be optimized for Unity Editor allowing developers to use its devices for proper testing and development of games. That’s an interesting way to market its smartphones, making them useful for developers that are pushing games for the mobile segment.

Asus’ Republic of Gamers brand will also create a plugin for Unity’s Engine. It will support five features of the ROG Phone II. Moreover, it will also support the upcoming ROG Phone III. That’s the first time that we have an “official” word about Asus’ upcoming gaming smartphone. As we said before, this partnership is really a great thing for the future of mobile gaming. Also, it may start a new trend of gaming devices that are developer-friendly. According to Junbo Zhang, GM of Unity Greater China, the deal is “more than thrilling”. The company revealed in a press release that the Republic of Gamers plans to attend “selected important dev-engagement events during 2020”. You can check his full statement below:
“Having ROG Phone join our verified solutions partner program is more than thrilling! By providing access to the ROG Phone plugin, Asus is enabling Unity developers to create next-level gaming experiences. Everything through the use of the Asus Game-centric mobile phone series.”
The partnership will ensure that the game developer using the Unity 3D creation platform will have exclusive access to a set of plugins. The list includes TwinView SDK, Gamepad SDK, Aura Light SDK, Refresh Rate Control SDK, and Performance Boost SDK. In other words, all future Unity games will be able to take out the maximum experience offered by the ROG Phones’ hardware. Developers might be also to control how the phones will react to add-ons, without compromising the gaming experience.
According to rumors, the ROG Phone III might be revealed until August. We’ll probably hear more about this partnership at the revelation event.
