According to @MobileChipDarren: “Although the United States imposed further sanctions on Huawei in May, I promise that Huawei will release the Mate 40 mobile phone with the 5nm process Kirin processor as scheduled in October. In the fourth quarter, we can supply about 8 million Mate 40 phones”.

Earlier, there have been reports that Huawei’s next-generation flagship chip is Kirin 1000. In addition, there are also reports that it will be called Kirin 1020. Either way, this chip will use TSMC’s 5nm process. According to reports, the Kirin 1000 development code is “Baltimore”. Kirin 990 5G uses Cortex A76 architecture thus it is possible that Kirin 1000 will adopt Cortex A77 or A78 architecture. With this, the CPU and GPU performance will greatly improve.

In accordance with Huawei’s regular practice, each new generation of Huawei’s Kirin processor will arrive this fall. The Mate series will be the first to use this chip. According to Huawei’s existing product line layout, the Mate 40 series will have Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 RS Porsche design, etc. It is not yet certain whether there will be a “super-large” Mate 40 Pro+.

Huawei P50 is in development

Recently, Wang Yonggang, general manager of Huawei’s P series products revealed the development progress of the P50 series. He said that P-series products must be polished for at least 18 months from concept design to product launch. The innovative technologies and solutions will be determined with R&D centers around the world one year in advance, and then enter the detailed development stage.

Furthermore, he said that each generation of P series products is based on Huawei’s cutting-edge capabilities in R&D and industry partners to achieve a new breakthrough. According to him, there will be more surprises with next year’s Huawei P50.

In accordance with Huawei’s regular practice, the Huawei P50 series will arrive worldwide in March next year. Considering the words of Wang Yonggang, the Huawei 50 series is already in the development stage. Like the Mate 40 series, the P50 series will also use a 5nm Kirin processor. At the same time, the camera and aesthetic design will be better than its predecessor.

Its interesting to see that Huawei is still releasing its phones normally despite the U.S. ban. In a few months, we will see the effect of the U.S. latest ban on Huawei.
