Chinese tech giant Huawei is not afraid to take risks. The company is always among the firsts to equip its smartphone with new technologies. The foldable Huawei Mate X has become one of the best deals in this category. Now the company may be about to revive the idea of using a secondary display on the back, which so far has been implemented by only a few companies. The most famous options are Meizu Pro 7, Yota Phone and Nubia X smartphones.
Huawei files patent for a smartphone with a secondary display on the back
The company came up with a slightly different option from everything that we saw before. The patent shows a square display located at the back. Above it is a horizontal block of cameras, next to a flash. Interestingly, there is already a 3.5 mm audio jack that would seem to have gone out of fashion.
Most likely, related information will be displayed on the screen. Notifications, time and other things that we now see on AMOLED displays in Always-On displays. This technology can also be used to take selfies on the main modules, which would significantly improve their quality.
It is worth noting that the application was submitted back in 2018. This means that for 2 years, Huawei has not shown a similar smartphone. Most likely, we should not expect the release of devices with a similar design in the future, but anything is possible.

Huawei Mate 40 series coming soon
Huawei’s upcoming flagship smartphone, Mate 40 series, is already in development. In recent times, there have been a series of reports regarding Huawei and the Mate series. According to popular Twitter leakster, @rodent950, Huawei’s next-generation flagship chip is called Kirin 1000. This chip uses TSMC’s 5nm process and it will be launched by the Huawei Mate 40 series.
According to industry sources, the Kirin 1000 uses the codename “Baltimore”. It uses a 5nm process and may use the Cortex A78 architecture. The CPU and GPU will obviously greatly improve. We have been hearing of Kirin 1020 but it appears to be different from Kirin 1000.
We know that the Kirin 990 5G uses the Cortex A76 architecture. If Kirin skips the A77 and upgrades to the A78 architecture, the performance of the CPU and GPU will greatly improve. However, we do not expect any specific information regarding the CPU until the press conference.
As usual, Huawei’s new Kirin flagship processor will arrive this fall with the new Mate series. So without any surprise, Huawei Mate 40 series should become the first models with 5nm process processors. Temporarily, it will lead its opponent in performance due to the first-mover advantage.
In addition, the Mate 40 series will have the Huawei Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 RS Porsche design, and so on. It is not yet certain whether there will be a “super-large” Mate 40 Pro+. If Huawei launches the Mate 40 Pro+, it is probable that the Porsche design version will be based on the Mate 40 Pro+.
