Chinese manufacturing giant, Huawei, has done a lot for the development of smartphone technology. The company has technological advancement in the semiconductor field, artificial intelligence, and so on. However, Huawei is not done. The company recently launched a new investment in Changzhou Fuene Technology to deploy graphene technology.
Graphene is a novel two-dimensional material. It consists of carbon atoms and sp2 hybrid orbitals to form a hexagonal flat film with a honeycomb lattice. The thickness is only one carbon atom. It is the thinnest but also the hardest nanomaterial in the world.
Graphene is difficult to prepare, but it is a promising high-tech material. This material is almost completely transparent and only absorbs 2.3% of light. The thermal conductivity is as high as 5300 W/m·K, which is higher than that of carbon nanotubes and diamond. Furthermore, its electron mobility exceeds 15000 cm2/V·s, which is higher than that of carbon nanotubes or silicon crystals. Looking at its resistivity, it is only about 10-6 Ω·cm. This is lower than that of copper or silver. It is the material with the smallest resistivity in the world.

Due to these characteristics, graphene shines in the fields of optics, heat dissipation, semiconductors, batteries, etc. Huawei’s investment in Fuene Technology is to deploy graphene technology for heat dissipation management. This company is one of the top Chinese companies in graphene technology.
Huawei is a stakeholder at Fuene Technology
According to reports, Fuene Technology was founded in December 2014 and specializes in the development, production, and sales of graphene thermal conductivity film. The company’s existing products include graphene thermal conductivity film, graphene foam film, and more.
Some of the graphene films from this company are already in the smartphone industry supply chain. Furthermore, this will not be the first time that Huawei is cooperating with Fuene Technology. The “Graphene Liquid Cooling” solution used by Huawei and Honor Mobile Phones is from Fuene Technology. The likes of Huawei Mate 20X and Honor X10 uses the graphene cooling technology.
According to reports, Huawei currently has a 10% stake in Fuene Technology. The Chinese manufacturing giant is now the second-largest shareholder in the company. However, Huawei’s specific investments in Fuene Technology is not public.
Considering that this year’s Honor X series uses graphene for heat dissipation, this year’s flagship Mate 40 series should also use this new heat dissipation technology in a large area. With the high energy efficiency of the 5nm Kirin 1000 processor, the Huawei Mate 40 series will probably launch with this new technology.
