Spotify is finally available through Alexa Echo devices in India

India’s massive population of nearly 1,3 billion has over 500 million internet users. The country has the second-largest net-surfing population in the work. For that reason, it’s one of the most lucrative markets for leading service providers. You notice that most video streaming services and music streaming services have a big interest in the Indian market because of this massive amount of possible costumers. When it comes to music streaming services, there several players in India. The list includes Indian and International players like Amazon, JiaSaavn, Gaana, Wynk, Hangama, etc. The list includes one of the world’s top music streaming services, the Swedish Spotify.

Interestingly enough, Spotify was one of the latecomers arriving in India last year. Several months after its launch in India, the music streaming platform is giving another important step. From today, users of Alexa-powered Amazon Echo devices. It will also reach other smart speakers, displays as well as other devices powered by Alexa.

Since its launch in India, Spotify wasn’t supported by Alexa. However, some users were able to bypass that by changing location to a country, like the U.S, where the integration is available. Of course, this option removes support for local languages as well as region-specific services. Now, with the official announcement, users are able to enjoy playlists and podcasts in India without much effort. The platform is available for both free and premium users in India.

How to Enable Spotify on Alexa-powered devices

To make use of the service with Alexa, you need to go to the Amazon Alexa app on your smartphone. Look for Settings > Music option and tap on “Link new Service”. From there, you’ll need to sign in with your Spotify account and, then, authorize the device. After that, you can also select Spotify as your default music and radio service straight from the same page. Alternatively, you can search for the Spotify skill either using voice by saying “Alexa, enable Spotify”.

Once the aforementioned settings are done, you can use commands like “Alexa, play Spotify” or “Alexa, play <insert music name here>”. You can also navigate through your daily playlist or a playlist curated for your region by saying “Alexa, play Bollywood Hits on Spotify” or “Alexa, play my Daily Mix 1 on Spotify.” Considering the fact that Amazon’s smart assistant can also recognize Hindi or Hinglish, you can use those languages to play your favorite podcasts or playlists in those languages.
