While the second half of 2020 has not yet even started, Samsung has already started planning its next year ahead. According to a recent report, it looks like Samsung is working on bringing cheaper 5G smartphones to its product portfolio. It is no surprise that every other smartphone inventor is now focussing on 5G devices and the same goes for the chaebol.
In fact, the first 5G smartphone that we saw from the brand was the Galaxy S10 5G variant. Soon, the company added numerous 5G phones to its flagship portfolio. We’re talking about the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S20 lineup. Apart from just flagship devices, Samsung brought 5G connectivity to the mid-range segment with Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A71. It looks like Samsung is now planning to bring the same to even cheaper devices.
With Galaxy A42, Samsung to bring cheaper 5G devices!
As per the report, Samsung is currently working on a 5G smartphone with the model number SM-A426B. Considering the current model number trend, it looks like this device is going to be the international variant of Galaxy A42 5G. It is also worth noting that this model number is scheduled for 2021 launch.
At the time of writing this, there is no information on the LTE variant of the device. All of this suggests that Samsung might plan to bring a bunch of cheaper 5G Galaxy devices to the consumer. With that said, the LTE variant should also see the official launch since 5G connectivity is not available everywhere. Since 5G-only devices also support 4G LTE, Samsung might go with only a 5G variant instead of separating both the variants.
The report further mentions that the device will arrive with an internal storage of 128GB. The smartphone should come with three color options namely Gray, Black, and White. With that said, we don’t know much about the device since it is in an early stage of development. We should expect more information to come forward by the end of this year.
