Galaxy Z Flip receives new firmware update, brings July security patch

Earlier this year, Samsung introduced its second foldable smartphone dubbed Galaxy Z Flip. the device is known for its compactness while also carrying top-end hardware. The chaebol has now started rolling out a new firmware update to the foldable device. Well, we’re looking at a small patch update that brings the latest security patch to the table.

The all-new software update for Galaxy Z Flip carries the firmware version F700FXXS2ATF3. At the time of writing this, the update is rolling out in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and South America. We’re expecting more markets to soon follow the suit. As mentioned earlier, the new update brings the latest July 2020 Android security patch. Apart from fixing vulnerabilities in Android, it also patches the Samsung’s proprietary software.

The changelog doesn’t mention anything new that the update carries over. With that said, you should receive the update notification already. If you haven’t for some reason, then you can always go ahead and download the update manually. To do that, head over to Settings>>Software Update and then tap on Download and Update option.

Samsung improving its monthly security updates rollout

Considering all the recent trends, it looks Samsung has significantly improved its monthly security patch rollout scenario. We have seen devices receiving the updates even before the details about the patch are made public. The same was the case with Galaxy S20 and Galaxy A50. Now, the Galaxy Z Flip follows the same suit by receiving the update. For those who’re unaware, the Galaxy S20 was the first device to get the July 2020 security patch last week.

In fact, the company has now rolled out the Galaxy S20 July update to more regions across the globe. We recently saw the Galaxy S9 and Note 9 lineup receiving the much-awaited One UI 2.1 update. As expected, the update brought new updates to the devices that include Quick Share, Music Share along with a plethora of camera features.
