Back in February, Samsung introduced the Galaxy S20 series in the form of Galaxy S20, S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra. While the first two had everything we expected from a 2020 flagship, the Galaxy S20 Ultra was a step beyond. The device is bigger, has a better battery, and also ships with a jaw-dropping Penta-Camera setup led by a 108MP camera. Despite its appeal, owners of the S20 Ultra had to deal with a troublesome experience with this smartphone’s camera due to the auto-focus issue. Samsung took some months to provide a real fix for this problem. When it finally arrived the damage was already done. What’s the use of devices with a super-powerful camera that can’t ensure basic functionality? Apparently, those buying the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra won’t have to experience this trauma.
Samsung has addressed the AF issues on its 108MP sensor
According to a report, Samsung fixed all the problems with the Galaxy S20 Ultra 108 Main Camera. The issue was reported by many users and reviewers who found the device’s camera to be slower than the 12MP main camera on the S20/S20+. Apparently, these issues and reduced performance of the Auto-Focus were caused by the 108MP sensor’s lack of dual-pixel phase-detect autofocus. According to the leakster, IceUniverse, this won’t be a problem anymore on the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra camera. However, it’s unclear if Samsung has developed a way to bypass this issue or if the company is adding dual-pixel PDAF on the Note 20 series.
