Over the last couple of years, smartphone makers have pushed the charging solution to some great extent. So far, we have seen the highest 65W fast charging solutions from and well, it changes today. Vivo’s gaming group brand iQOO has now announced a whopping 120W Super FlashCharge technology. For those who’re unaware, the Chinese smartphone maker held a press conference in its homeland revealing the tech.
iQOO’s whopping 120W Super FlashCharge charging tech goes official!
Surprisingly, the conference was quite short, lasting for just about 15 minutes. At the conference, the brand showcased the charging capabilities on a demo device. Well, the smartphone running on a 4,000 mAh battery topped up from zero to 100% in mere 15 minutes. That’s impressive. We’re looking at twice as fast charging solution that is currently available on the smartphones.
Gizchina News of the week
In order to achieve the insane 120W fast charging tech, the battery cells are lined up in a new specific array. The current is converted from 20V at 6A to 10A at 12V which further is split into two equal circuits at 5A at 12V. These two equal circuits charge two 2,000 mAh cells, resulting in 15 mins to completely charge a 4,000mAh battery.
Since we’re looking at a high-speed charging tech, we will see some solid heat dissipation as well. That is why the brand recommended devices to use extra graphite layers or some additional internal cooling. Any of these solutions will keep the temps down protecting the motherboard and hardware.
Might see the charging tech in use as early as August
At the conference, iQOO announced that we might see the 120W fast charging tech from the brand as early as August. The device is definitely going to be a gaming-oriented one. With that said, we don’t have much information about the device as of now. We should see more information coming forward in the coming months.
iQOO is not the only smartphone maker that is currently working on a 120W fast charging tech. Oppo seems to be working on its take on the super-fast charging tech. In fact, the company will unveil its 125W fast-charging tech on July 15, as per the recent report. To top things off, Honor is working on a massive 200W fast charging tech. It looks like we will see some interesting developments in the smartphone’s charging solutions very soon.
