When it comes to charging solutions, BBK electronics brands, Oppo, Vivo, and Realme are ahead of the bunch. Looks like the trend will continue as Oppo has teased a potential 125W Charging solution. It will be unveiled on July 15th. The technology is expected to be adopted by Oppo, Realme, Vivo and iQoo in the near future.
Looking at the teaser, a flashy counter keeps increasing till it reaches a 125W from 65W. And the arrival date rolls out at the end, but that’s pretty much it. Apart from this, the teaser doesn’t give us anything.
120W: What’s new?
However, spin-off brand of Oppo’s sister-brand Vivo, iQoo, went a step ahead and demonstrated a 120W super flash charger today in China. The new charger will come equipped with an array type pole structure for better thermals.
IQoo said that a device supporting this feature will have a battery based on the Oppo’s proprietary dua-cell technology. The industry’s first 6-C cell and charge at 5v DC at 12A each. It also said that the technology will have a 97% charging conversion rate. This with a typical 4,000mAh battery will be charged completely in 15 minutes which is insane.
Faster charging solutions are not new to the industry. Oppo has generally been the frontrunner in commercialising them. And they certainly aren’t without their caveats either. And it was indeed the case with a crazy 65W charger last year with Reno Ace.
