We’re at that time of the year where we see leaks about the upcoming iPhone every other day. Today’s news is about the charging speed of the iPhone 12 series. Last year’s iPhone 11 series was supported by up to 18W fast charging. For this year, Apple is planning to opt for just a tiny upgrade. Will iPhone 12 models get chargers in the box? If yes, what will be the charging speed of it?
Two new chargers have been certified by China’s Communication Commission. The two chargers come with different speeds. One of the chargers comes with 20W fast charging support. Moreover, the charger uses USB-C port and supports Power Delivery. The power output for the charger is 5V 3A and 9V 2.2A. The 3C certificate also mentions the manufacturer which is Flextronics Power Systems (Dongguan) Co. Ltd.
Now there is another charger with 5W speed, but this one is special. This is the first 5W charger for which I am excited about. Leaving sarcasm behind, the 5W charger is an indication that Apple may ship chargers with the box.
Gizchina News of the week
To recall, some analysts claimed that future iPhones are not going to ship with chargers, it also resulted in controversies. However, the new 5W charger that is certified gives us hope that Apple might not remove the charger. The current generation of Apple iPhones introduced three models including iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The simple model came with a 5W charger while the other two came with 18W chargers in the box. However, all three supported fast-charging up to 18W.
Slower Charging Speed. Low Battery Capacity. And Higher Refresh Rate?
Apart from the iPhone 12 chargers, Recently we also heard about the battery capacities of the new iPhone 12 series. The three batteries were named as A2471, A2431, and A2466. A2471 is speculated to be the entry-level 5.4-inch iPhone 12 with 2,227mAh capacity. While the A2431 is expected to be for iPhone 12 Max and iPhone 12 Pro and is of 2,775mAh capacity. While the last one if A2466 and comes with a capacity of 3,687mAh.It is expected to be powering up the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max.
The battery capacity has been lowered compared to the previous-gen. We are also expected to get a higher refresh solution that eats battery faster. Whereas, Some Chinese manufacturers are revealing their 100W+ charging solutions, and we are expected to see those phones soon in the market. What is the ideal charging speed in your opinion?
