Samsung is currently gearing up for its much-awaited conference dubbed Galaxy Unpacked scheduled for August 5. The chaebol will launch a plethora of new devices namely Galaxy Note 20 lineup, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds Live. You might now be wondering where is the next-gen Galaxy Fold 2. For those who’re unaware, we recently saw a report claiming that we might not see the Galaxy Fold 2 next month.
As per the report, it looks like the firmware of the device is far away from being completely ready. This will eventually result in an unfortunate delay. Well, a new report has now surfaced online and this one is contradicting the earlier.
Galaxy Fold 2 might indeed launch next month!
Fold 2 fans, confirmed with my sources that it will be announced at Unpacked, although may not ship till as late as early October. Assembly starts in September. Also, why are leakers/media saying 7.7". As we said on 4/20, it is 7.59"…No change. pic.twitter.com/CBJ380tYnb

This report is coming from Ross Young claiming that the device will indeed launch on August 5 during the Galaxy Unpacked 2020 event. There is a small catch though. Even though the device will be unveiled next month, you might not be able to buy it right away. As per the report, the next-gen foldable phone might not ship to customers until early October.

Apart from this, he also confirmed some already known specifications. We’re looking at the 7.59-inch display with a resolution of 2213 x 1689 pixels. The display will also come with 120Hz refresh rate along with LTPO tech. For those who’re unaware, LTPO is a short form of Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide which is an OLED display tech. It can offer a power-saving of around 5-15% when compared with LTPS tech.
This new report seems to be making sense considering Samsung was planning to follow the 3-month flagship launch strategy. As per this strategy, the South Korean giant was looking to launch its three flagship devices in succession. It includes Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Fold 2 and Galaxy S20 Fan Edition. This means Note 20 in August, Galaxy Fold 2 in September and Galaxy S20 Fan Edition in October. Well, the new report does fall in line (somewhat) with this month-apart launch strategy.
Expected specs, features
Ahead of the launch, the Galaxy Fold 2 has been a part of numerous leaks and rumours, revealing information bit-by-bit. As per the leaked information, the device will arrive with Snapdragon 865+ chipset paired with 256/512GB onboard memory. It will also run on Android 10 with One UI 2.5 out of the box.
