Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has finally launched the Redmi Note 9 smartphone in India. The device looks a lot similar to the global variant of the Redmi Note 9 that launched in Europe. However. it does have faster charging, more storage and more.
Redmi Note 9: Display
The Redmi Note 9 is a direct successor to the Note 8 from October. And it has a bigger 6.53-inch IPS LCD display with a punch-hole on the top left. This is a first as the previous Redmi non-Pro Note series of smartphones have had notch displays earlier.
It is a 21:9 display with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. Redmi says it is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 and has P2i coating to protect it against accidental splashes.
Specifications
Powering the device is Meditek’s Helio G85 SoC paired with LPDDR4x and eMMC 5.1 storage. The company says the device is first in India to have the SoC. It claims that the 2GHz clocked SoC will be a beast for gaming and has clocked an AnTuTu score of 209,956.
On the back there is a quad-camera setup and the layout is similar to the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Poco M2 Pro. But the fingerprint sensor is embedded below the arrangement as opposed to the side-mount found on the latter. There is a 48MP main shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide, and two 2MP macro and depth sensors.
The front has a 13MP sensor tucked inside the punch-hole for selfies. Redmi says the ultra-wide lens has 118º. The rear camera setup also comes with features like Night mode, HDR, and document scanner options. Similarly, the selfie shooter has portrait mode, panorama selfies, and face unlock.
Gizchina News of the week
