Samsung is betting big on the Galaxy A series. The S Korean giant seems to be speeding up the development of the Galaxy A42 5G. A fresh leak has showcased the possible battery capacity of the device and it looks like the device will be a huge upgrade over its predecessor.
The battery in question has been spotted on China’s 3C certification website. The model number of the device’s battery is EB-BA426ABY and is 4,860mAh in capacity. This goes in line with the device’s model number i.e., the SM-A426B. Hence, this battery, which was spotted on 3C by folks over at Galaxyclub, could be the one backing up the upcoming Galaxy A42 5G.
A huge upgrade in battery
The database further reveals that the battery is rated for 3.86V typical. It has a charging limit voltage is 4.43V. This makes us wonder if the battery on the device indeed will support a higher voltage of 9V for fast charging but we will have to wait further on that.
Gizchina News of the week
The Galaxy A42 is a relatively new device. A few weeks back, Sammobile had reported that the device will also come with a 5G tag on it meaning Samsung will be moving entirely to 5G on the A series going forward. This is understandable considering the Galaxy A51 was the best selling smartphone in the entire world in Q1 2020.
Coming back, the Galaxy A42’s battery is a serious 70% upgrade over the recently launched Galaxy A41. It had a meagre 3,500mAh battery. The reason could be the company’s alternative route to cope up for the battery drain issues due to the 5G connectivity.
Galaxy A42: What we can expect
As for the device, it is expected to have a slimmer design despite the larger battery. And going by Sammobile’s report we can expect the A42 to come in Black, White and Grey color options. Its global debut is likely far and could be somewhere in Q1 of 2021.
Samsung faced a lot of backlash with battery, camera and processor issues with its flagship Galaxy S20. However, the company showed promising results with the A series selling like hotcakes everywhere.
This could have made Samsung bet high on the A-series as the company is expected to go all-in with an in-display fingerprint scanner, bigger cameras possibly with OIS and more. That said, these are early speculations and let’s wait for official info to confirm it further.
