The market of tablets in the Android side of the coin may not be really overwhelming, but there are several companies that still bet on this segment like Samsung and Huawei. The first will reveal a bunch of new tablets during its August 5 Galaxy Unpacked. When it comes to Huawei, it seems that the company will also respond, at least in the domestic market with a new Huawei MatePad 10.8 tablet. The new slate will be an upgrade over the MatePad M6 10.8 from the last year. According to a new leaked listing from JD.com, the price of the model featuring Wi-Fi only connectivity will be CNY 2,300 ($330/€280).
Huawei MatePad 10.8-inch specifications
The Huawei MatePad 10.8 will come with the Kirin 990 chipset. It’s the same chipset found in the flagship MatePad Pro tablet, which is way more expensive at CNY 3,300 price tag. The new MatePad 10.8, in counterpart to the last year’s model, has a starting variant with 6GB of RAM (up from 4GB on the M6) and 64GB of Internal Storage. The tablet probably has 2,560 x 1,600 pixels of resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. Moreover, it will offer support for the M-Pencil Stylus and there will be a keyboard add-on to provide a laptop experience. The battery will keep the same endurance of the M6 with 7,500mAh capacity. The tablet also has a good sound quality thanks to Harman Kardon speakers plus Huawei Histen 6.1 audio tech.

Other specifications include seamless support for the new Wi-Fi 6 standard and NFC. Since this is slate for the Chinese market, we can bet that a 5G variant is coming as well. Just like the M6, we’re also expecting an 8.4-inch variant. However, we still haven’t found any clue about this particular variant specifications.
The Huawei MatePad 10.8 will be available on JingDong.com on July 30. However, the actual shipments will start on August 13. There will be an early bird deal for the tablet, CNY 100 off. Interestingly enough, on that same date, we will see the big reveal of Huawei MateBook D 15 Ryzen Edition, a TalkBand B6 fitness tracker, and the Kids Watch 4X. Another recent leak showed another slate, the Huawei Tablet C5 10. It surfaced on Vmall with a CNY 2,700 price tag ~$386. It boasts a 10.4-inch display with 2000 x 1200 pixels of resolution. So July 30 will be an important day for Huawei fans in China. We don’t know how many of these devices will make way to International markets. But we expect the Huawei TalkBand B6 to be the first one leaving China.
