This year is not being the easiest for Nokia as the company had to postpone many of its smartphones due to the pandemic. Despite the lack of mid-range phones earlier this year, the company announced the Nokia 8.3 5G in March. However, it didn’t go on sale until this month with some countries like Switzerland not having stock until September. Now, the company announced that its first 5G mid-range phone will reach the United States. The company even announced a new change to its leadership.
According to a press release issued by HMD Global, the well known Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, will now be the company’s Vice President of North America. The executive will now hold both positions. According to the press release, the first step in the company’s new strategy will be taking its 5G smartphone to the United States this autumn. In other words, we can expect the phone to be available there between late September and the third week of December.
Interestingly enough, the Nokia 8.3 5G will the country around the same time when OnePlus will be launching its OnePlus Nord smartphone in the country. We expect some comparisons between these phones. However, we expect the US OnePlus Nord to come with a Snapdragon 690 SoC which probably will make it cheaper than the current Nord and the Nokia 8.3 5G.

Nokia 8.3 5G specifications
The Nokia 8.3 5G brings everything you expect from a premium mid-range smartphone. That includes a 5G-enabled Snapdragon 765G with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. These specifications are built around a 6.81-inch display with FHD+ Resolution and a punch-hole at the top-left corner comprising the 24MP selfie snapper.
Moving around to the back, the phone has a Quad-Camera setup. It comprises a 64MP main shooter, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. The phone also comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that doubles as a power button. It ships with Android 10 OS straight out of the box. We have a 4,000mAh battery keeping the lights on. This battery charges via a USB-C port with 18W fast-charging support
The Nokia 8.3 5G came as a global 5G smartphone. For that reason, it brings support for more 5G bands than most of the other 5G devices on the market. In Europe, the device sells for about 599 Euros. We’re expecting a similar price of $599 when it reaches the Uncle Sam’s country. On that price department, the phone will face direct competition with the LG Vevlver with has just 6GB of RAM, but the exact same capacity of storage.
More details will be revealed as the launch date comes near.
