However, the blogger added that for HiSilicon’s Kirin chip design, chip size and cost are not the main consideration. HiSilicon has no pressure to make a profit. Therefore, for products of the same level, the chip size of HiSilicon processors is generally larger than that of MTK and Qualcomm.

Kirin 1020 Advantages
As for the chip itself, the Kirin 1020 will be over 50% more powerful than the Kirin 990; with the CPU architecture upgraded from Cortex A76 to Cortex A78. Which means Huawei will be skipping the Cortex A77 currently on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 altogether. Of course, the Kirin 1020 will also come with an integrated 5G modem.
