Chinese manufacturing giant, Huawei, is working on multiple devices which it will release before the year runs out. Despite its recent troubles with the American government, the company is still developing and releasing new devices. According to a recent patent filing, Huawei is working on two wearable devices. These devices are a smartwatch and a smartband.
According to the report, these patents are now on EUIPO and WIPO certification websites. Looking at the patent images, the Watch seems to be taking a new route. It uses a square design which is different from the round dial of Huawei’s latest Watch GT. As for the smartband, it uses a flexible curved screen design. Recall that the company recently released the Talkband B6 which also uses a flexible screen design.
Huawei upcoming wearables may use Hongmeng OS
These devices will most likely arrive with Huawei’s own Hongmeng system. According to Hongmeng’s roadmap, Hongmeng OS 2.0 in 2020 will bring innovative features to PCs, watches, smartbands, and cars. Regarding the new Huawei watches, there are reports that Huawei plans to release a Mate Watch in the second half of the year. Earlier this year, Huawei submitted a trademark application called “Mate Watch”. According to the report, Huawei Mate Watch will be the first smartwatch to use the Hongmeng OS. There are also indications that this device will arrive with the Mate 40 series.
Gizchina News of the week
In addition to the square face of the Huawei Watch, it comes with conspicuous bezels. The power button is on the right side and that’s the only button on the device. On the rear of this watch, there are two pins which are probably for charging. There is also a black bar which could be for heart rate and activity tracking sensors. As of now, there is no information on the build materials of this device. It could use plastic or metal materials. However, that will depend on whether it is a premium device or an entry-level device.
For the Huawei smartband, it is significantly thinner than the current Huawei and Honor bands. Of course, we can clearly see that it uses a curved display with a couple of sensors on the rear. Like the Huawei watch, the smartband also comes with a solitary power button on the right side. Well, there is no inbuilt USB-A port for charging thus it will support a proprietary charger.
