Update (10/08/2020): We reached out to Poco India for an update about the suspended MIUI 12 story. A reply was received today. According to them, the update has not been halted and has been on track since its rollout. However, since it is a phased rollout, it could take time to arrive.

Xiaomi’s MIUI is shared by Mi, Redmi and Poco devices. Poco, which withdrew its MIUI 12 update for Poco F1 recently, has done it again for its mid-ranger. As per recent reports, the company has pulled back the MIUI 12 for the Poco X2 (review) citing bugs and glitches as reasons.

The information, as reported by PiunikaWeb, was notified on the Poco’s official telegram channels of India, and Global handles. As per the notification, the MIUI 12 update has been pulled back due to glitches and bugs. A more stable version is reported to be coming in the next few days.

The company had actually started rolling out the update recently and since Poco doesn’t have a dedicated community page apart from Mi community which is banned now, users shared them on Social media like Twitter. Unfortunately, the new update must have arrived without proper pilot testing but from the screenshots, it sure looked like a stable version.

A quick rollout that got pulled back in no time

The update had a build number V12.0.1.0.QGHINXM and weighed 813MB in size. However, not everyone received it as few users on the same platform commented that they hadn’t received it.

This is not the only time Poco has made a u-turn regarding the update. Recently, the company had to postpone the MIUI 12 updates on the Poco F1 for unknown reasons and an official from Poco India stated that the update will arrive in the next few weeks.

While the reason for the delay on the Poco F1 is unknown, it is possible that the Poco X2 update backfired with lack of testing. However, the company has been promptly updating its global devices.

More delays for Poco devices in India

MIUI 12

The current flagship of Poco, the Poco F2 Pro which is a global version of the K30 Pro in China, started receiving MIUI 12 based on the Android 10 update recently.

Similarly, Mi 8 in China, which is similar to the Poco F1 in India, started receiving the update for MIUI 12 recently. But if we consider Indian devices, they have been stuck in a loop of postponed updates. Of course, there must be a reason for this delay, and we hope the company fixes the issues soon.

That said, Poco GM Manmohan confirmed that Poco X2 will get the Android 11 update but it is unlikely for the two-year-old Poco F1. Also, Xiaomi recently said that it will be rolling an MIUI 12 for India without banned apps and it will be interesting to see if that version will trickle down to the Poco devices as well.
