Microsoft Surface Duos pre-order details emerge

Microsoft Surface Duos

Microsoft unveiled its Microsoft Surface Duo foldable smartphone last October. The concept was a little bit different from what we’re used to with the Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X. Rather than having a truly-foldable display, the Surface Duos brings two separate displays that are foldable through a hinge. Microsoft decided to bring it a few months before the original schedule. After all, until this year’s holiday, the Surface Duos might become a little outdated and not so appealing for customers. According to the company, the device will go on sale from September 10. However, those who want to be early adopters can already book a unit of the handset.

Microsoft Surface Duo comes in two flavors with 128GB and 256GB of Storage. These variants are respectively priced at $1,399 and $1,499. Costumers who are interested can already pre-order a unit of the foldable phone through the Microsoft Store. The company is offering the unlocked variant, but you can also get an AT&T SIM card at the time of the checkout. Interestingly enough, Best Buy is offering the 128GB device through 24 installments of $58.34 each. You can also get the 256GB version for 24 installments of $62.50 each. Worth noting that BB only sells the unlocked variant. We’re sure that some carrier will also be offering plans for the device once that it officially hit the shelves.

The third seller is AT&T. The network carrier gives users the option to pre-book the Microsoft Surface Duo at its full retail price or pay in 30 installments of $46.67 for the 128GB version. Obviously, the 256GB variant is also available for 30 installments of $50 each. Worth noting that the device will work on T-Mobile and Verizon’s networks as well. That includes subsidiaries and international partner networks.

Microsoft Surface Duos specifications

Under the hood, the phone boasts the Snapdragon 855 SoC, yeah, not even the Snapdragon 855 Plus. The Microsoft Surface Duos went through a long process of development and Microsoft was not able to change the processor inside it even when we have better offerings such as the Snapdragon 865 or 865+. The multi-tasking purposes are ensured by 6GB of RAM. It runs Android 10 straight out of the box and sports two identical 5.6-inch OLED displays offering Full HD+ resolution. It also has a single 11MP single camera for photos and video recording. The phone draws power from a 3,577mAh battery. We believe that this battery will provide only mediocre battery life. After all, it has to power two displays. The battery is replenished through a USB-C port with up to 18W fast-charging support.
