The full specs of the mid-range LG Q92 smartphone appeared on the web

Recently, the South Korean tech giant LG has redefined its approach to its mobile business. The first step was the launch of the “strategic” smartphone LG Velvet, and now the manufacturer is preparing to release an even more affordable smartphone LG Q92 with almost identical characteristics to the first. This became known from a Twitter post by the leak finder @yabhishekhd, who posted pictures with the specifications of the unannounced device.

The smartphone is 8.48 mm thick and weighs 193 g. It includes an FHD+ display with a diagonal of 6.7″, a Snapdragon 765G chipset, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage memory, a fingerprint scanner mounted in the side, stereo speakers and a 4000mAh battery.

In addition to the characteristics, the document also demonstrates the appearance of the device, which in many ways resembles the LG Velvet – a frameless display with a round cutout for a 32-megapixel front camera and minimalistic lenses of four cameras on the back (48 + 8 + 5 + 2 megapixels). The LG Q92 will debut in three colors (ceramic white, mirror titanium and mirror red), but the date of the announcement is still unknown.

It is worth to mention that earlier in May, the company has released its all-new Velvet 5G smartphone, and here is a reminder of its specifications:

LG Wants To Expand Competitiveness By Launching Cheaper 5G Smartphones

LG is expected to launch affordable 5G smartphones later this year. In its second-quarter 2020 earnings report, the company talked about strengthening its ODM strategy and releasing devices that can be realized in more markets.

The financial report for the second quarter of 2020 shows that LG has been significantly affected by the coronavirus epidemic. LG’s smartphone sales fell by 19% year-on-year. But after the supply chain stabilized and lock-in measures were loosened, it increased by 31% month-on-month, especially in markets such as the US and Europe. The launch of the LG Velvet also helped increase sales during this period.

LG executives said that the company’s mobile communications division (smartphones) is working hard to increase the profitability of its business and become more competitive in the current market. LG may release 5G smartphones worth $100 to $200 in markets such as the US or China.

In addition, LG is already negotiating with chip manufacturers and ODMs to bring 5G smartphones to the mass market, which will help promote the popularization of 5G-enabled devices. The company also hopes to launch attractively priced 5G devices in markets such as South Korea and the United States in the second half of 2020. Although the exact release date and model number are currently unclear.
