Asus has just revealed the launch date for its upcoming Zenfone 7 series. The new smartphones have been a target of multiple leaks over the past weeks as some of the most anticipated flagships for H2 2020. First of all, is important to note that this year will be getting two smartphones instead of just a single flagship. One will boast the Snapdragon 865, while the other will feature its Plus variant. The Taiwanese firm has just confirmed that the new phones will go official next week, on August 26. The event will happen in Taiwan and everyone can see it through the company’s official YouTube channel at 2 PM local time.
In an age of punch-hole displays, it’s amazing to see that Asus will retain its innovative flip camera. Back in the last year, the company debuted the ZenFone 6 with a full-screen bezel-less display and a motorized flip main camera that also doubled as selfie snapper. Due to this fact, the ZenFone 6 was easily one of the best smartphones for selfies in the market. In 2020, phones with pop-up cameras are slowly disappearing as companies seem to be more comfortable with punch-holes. It’s good to see that Asus will keep a characteristic that makes it different from everyone. Interestingly enough, the teaser thumbnail suggests that we will be seeing a Quad-Camera setup this time around.
Gizchina News of the week
High-end performance with up to 16GB of RAM
The ZenFone 7 and its ZenFone 7 Pro counterpart were spotted in a kernel source a few months ago. Interestingly enough, the ZeFone 7 ran Geekbench with the Snapdragon 865 chipset and whopping 16GB of RAM. We expect the RAM to use the LPDDR5X standard and why not having a UFS 3.1 Storage? Until now there are no details regarding the storage amounts but we won’t be surprised to see up to 512GB of Internal Storage. After all, Asus is playing with high-storage amounts since the early days of the ZenFone series.
As per the ZenFone 7 Pro, we don’t expect many differences apart from a probable superior camera performance and the overclocked Snapdragon 865+. The Plus version of the high-end chipset achieves a 3.09GHz frequency. It’s a difference that will be greatly appreciated by gamers and tech enthusiasts. The phone will not be too far from the recently released ROG Phone 3.
Now that the phones launched date is officially confirmed, we expect more details to keep surfacing in the coming days.
